This initiative, aimed at creating awareness among citizens about the importance of protecting the environment and be conservative in the use of energy, water and natural resources, managed to elicit the participation of more than 100 schools in Santo Domingo. CEDE Schools, Centu and Lucero were winners of the first, second and third place in the highest category of proportional collection of paper, while the schools La Salle, Our Lady of Altagracia (CONSA) and St. Jude, they obtained, respectively the same places in the highest category of gross weighing. Following this competition the students have become true multiplying entities of the best practices for the environment and interest and participation shown by the students has been immense. As a result of this contest was created School Environmental Network Delegates and delegates have been decorated with buttons of the competition. It had great cooperation from the schools and the amount of recycled paper exceeded expectations, reaching a total of 89.582 kilos of paper into a month of collection, which means that saved about 2,000 trees and, more importantly, the habit of recycling paper was developed over who will impact 50,000 students, through their families and relationships, about 200,000 people.
Within the dynamics of the contest will offer lectures education to all participating schools on the theme of recycling, where recycling guidelines given to students in order that it be a learning tool in schools. In addition, each student received material support.
This activity was supported by the National District City Council, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the company Molded Dominicanos, SA (Moldosa), Green Love and the newspaper today, especially TinmarĂn magazine.
